Pre- War 170 V Head gasket
Will the Cylinder head gasket provided in a 170S gasket set purchased today work correctly for a pre-war 170V engine? If not or if this is not a good practice who is a source for a prewar cylinder head gasket?

Re: Pre- War 170 V Head gasket
Thank you Georges for your rapid and comprehensive reply. I will contact one of these firms, likely in Furth for the 170V head gasket. Furth is close to my old home in Ansbach. The report is must useful. Thank you again Jim

Hallo Jim,
nice to hear you have been in Ansbach once, probably Katterbach. It is still today area of the US Army.
I am in Nürnberg, close to there.
When have you been in Ansbach ? And do you happen to know a certain Kenneth J. Sprague? He was GI in Ansbach and owned my 220. Anywhen he went back to U.S. and I overtook his car , until today.
regards
Carl

Re: Pre- War 170 V Head gasket
Carl, I was the battalion Commander of the 603 Aviation Support Battalion from 1991-1993 in Katterbach. It was an excellent duty station and area. I did not know Kenneth j Sprague. I enjoyed my time in Ansbach and the opportunity to live in Franken land. Jim

Re: Pre- War 170 V Head gasket
Jim, time seems to stand still in Katterbach since 1991 and also since 1973 when I overtook my 220 from Sprague and since 1958 when I first crossed it.
Only the horrible paleblue painting of the barracks has changed since 4-5 years. The car dealer is still there and also the car insurane barrack, and the street crossing Katterbach is further on bad. I believe if you came there again you`d find your desk unchanged.
But in the meantime they get a lot of problems from the public by spoiled ground with kerrsosin and others. And your helis still cross Nürnberg on their way to Grafenwöhr, mostly at midnight
I will inform you if things change.
Carl
