Is there any additional information on this post? I have found I have the same problem from a repair before my ownership. In my case, the repair was welded. The brake adjuster is a full 2.2mm out of alignment from the axis of the leading brake shoe adjuster. Now, the question is, what should I do? Since it is welded, I must grind the weld-free. Then, I will damage the bolt assembly. So I must try to find a repair part or make a new bolt, which is not difficult. The issue comes with the staking process to hold the adjuster to the bolt. I can produce the serrations, and I guess I can make a staking tool to up-set the material to keep the cam in place.
Likely, a new cam will have to be machined. Again, it's not a particular problem. The other and probably best solution is to find a replacement for the 170S right rear brake backing plate. That will be a bit more complicated task on this side of the grand pond. This problem is likely why my brakes have never been as good as the standard poor brakes on the 170S can be. I have also had repeated right rear brake cylinder leakage from the misalignment of the cylinder push rod. I did not find this problem. I had another person senior to me take his time repairing the brakes, and he discovered the 2.2mm misalignment. This post has been most helpful. Thank you all for sharing your pictures and thoughts. Ja, die Exenterscheibe ist verstemmt, Hartlot deutet auf nachträgliche Reparaturen hin.

Ich hatte das mal auseinander, Problem ist Rostfraß am Trägerblech mit dem Resultat, dass die Reibscheibe nicht mehr fest anliegt und trotz des Federdrucks schlapp wird.
Folglich muss dort die Reparatur erfolgen, alternativ hilft nur der Austausch gegen eine bessere Trägerplatte, wie von Georges bereits angemerkt.

This is another example of a poor repair of the Bremstrager platten for my 170S. I have had issues with my rear brakes for 40+ years. My friend found exactly what this post shows. Now, to fix the problem: First, I will try to find a replacement part. If not, I will machine new parts and set the height exactly in alignment.
