Request assistance with idintification of the correct springs for the exhaust manifold clapper shaft. I have Edition A of the 170S parts manual. Springs are not showned on the early manifolds. These springs came later and I believe are shown clearly in the later edition parts manuals and that there are two different parts numbers for the left and right side spring. The pin placement is 25mm center distance on one side and 15 mm center distance on the other side. I believe this requires two different sized springs. Shown are two springs. Which one is correct? What is the correct placement of these springs? I have not been able to find a source of supply for the springs so I will have to make them. Not a difficult task to form the springs, but what are the correct dimensions to give the correct pressure on the shaft to eliminate clapper flutter? Any assistance or guidance on this subject would be most appreciated. Thank You Jim

Thank you ever so much Willi. This is perfect. Did you make the shaft clips or were they purchased? Do you have a picture of the clip on the other side of the manifold? My question is with the pin spacing 15 mm on one side and 25 mm on the other side should the two clips not be slightly different? I have two manifolds to repair. The one in the picture will receive new bushings and a shaft. I also will replace the pins as time and heat have taken their price on the current pins. Moin. Kurze Frage: Beim mittleren Bild ist ein kleiner Winkel am Gegengewicht? Dient dieser als Anschlag? Bei mir ist die Schraube aber kein Winkel. Hat jemand zufällig die Maße von diesem Winkel?

Lieber Werner,
es kann sein, dass es bei dem Typ 170 S anfänglich einen solchen Winkel gab. Die Maße kann man leicht selbst ermitteln. Der freistehende Schenkel muss so lang sein, dass er am Stift anschlagen kann. Ich würde aber die bessere Lösung verwenden, mindestens bei allen Sb wurde sie eingesetzt. Bei Niemöller noch erhältlich für 26 €. Den federnden Blechstreifen nachzubauen dürfte nicht ganz einfach sein. Der Anschlag besteht aus Federstahl und am Ende ist wohl noch eine Asbestumhüllung(?) angenietet. Die Feder sollte aber schon eingebaut sein. Sie sorgt nicht nur für eine Dämpfung, sondern auch dafür, dass die Heizklappe richtig steht. Ich habe zu wenige dieser Federn, um etwas abgeben zu können. Wenn ich mich nicht irre, gibt es im Lager meines verstorbenen Freundes noch einen Karton mit solchen Federn. Soll ich mal nachfragen?

Ja genau, so sieht es aus.
Ist viel Gedöns dran für so eine kleine Vorwärmklappe.

Guten Tag Gemeinde,

in der ETL heisst das Ding Dämpfungsfeder,

Die Feder soll vermutlich verhindern, dass sich die Heizklappe bis zum Anschlagen öffnet
und dann bei kaltem Motor scheppert.
Eine andere Funktion kann ich mir nicht vorstellen.

Beim 170S gab es sie ab Motor 00921 und wurde dann auch im Sb und dem 180 Ponton eingebaut.
Interessant: bei meinem Ausgleichsgewicht ist eine Messingschraube verbaut.

Beim 170V bis 170 S-V gab es sowas nicht, ist ja auch ein anderes System mit der Heizklappe.
