Who can give me the part number for the right and left "STEINSCHLAGSCHUTZ" that can be installed on the rear wing of the 170 S "jnnenlenker"(sedan)

Most of the 170S sold in Sweden are equipped with these plates.
I think that the plates are made in Sweden and has no DB-Number.
Your photo is probably showing a car with a Swedish history.
The plates are hard to find in a good shape and you must beware of that the the 170S and 170Sb has different type of rear fenders and then also different plates.

Salut Bernard, je pense que ces plaques anti-gravillons sont très difficiles à trouver aussi en Suède, particulièrement celles en bon état. Elles sont faites en tôle d’aluminium assez épaisse (environ 2 mm). Elles ne sont pas profilées, seulement façonnées après les gardeboues. Je vous conseille de demander chez un tôlier d’en faire des nouvelles. Cela sera probablement moins cher (et moins compliqué) qu’en acheter des usées, qui sans doute nécessiteraient aussi du travail considérable pour devenir présentables.

(Auf Deutsch: Sind auch in Schweden schwierig zu bekommen, wenigstens in gutem Zustand. Billiger und einfacher neue aus dickem Alu-Blech machen lassen.)

- send me detailled photos of these parts installed on your (beautiful) 170 Sb
- give me the dimensions and thickness
- tell me how they are fastened on the rear fenders ( drawing will be helpfull)

Hi Benznard

First you must check which type of fender you have.
The 170S has the black fender shown in my photo.
170Sb, 170DS, 170S-V, 170S-D, 220 (W187) all cars with Hypoid rear axle has the blue fender.

It is difficult to se the difference if you don´t have them together.
They are also different at front where to apply the plates.

I have one 170S right side plate extra and perhaps a friend of mine has both the right and the left.
He will search and reply in a short while I hope.

My car is a 170S (136 040)
It will be wonderfull if your friend has both the right and left "steinschlagschutz"
If they are in good condition I'm interested OF COURSE( please keep me informed)
Could you please send me some detailled photos of the ones installed on your 170Sb showing how they are fixed on the rear fenders?
Could you also let me know the dimensions (length and thickness)
Thank you again for your help ; Lars; because it is very difficult to restore a MERCEDES BENZ 170 in France
